I spent the entire day sewing yesterday. I actually started the nightgown Wednesday night after I put the kids to bed, even though I had a million other things I should have been doing. I've been wanting to get my machine out for a while though. I already had the pattern and the fabric, so I just did it. I finished everything but the sleeves, because I had to get some bias tape for the seam binding.
Since I already had the machine out, I started sewing other things too. Mostly some drawstrings bags I've had cut out and ready for a while. They are for the kids' toys. I had a friend once who said she kept all the toys in drawstring bags, because she could tie a knot that they couldn't undo. My goal is mostly to keep all of the toys from being dumped out all of the time. Sounds great in theory, we'll see how it actually works. The bags turned out cute anyway. It was a great way to use up some of my scraps.
Amazingly enough the kids were pretty well behaved so I could get some sewing done too. #3 was pretty content in her high chair watching. #2 was sitting right next to me most of the time watching. She even went to the store with me to get some bias tape. It's good I took her because she remembered we need a button too, I would have forgot.
#1 was pretty excited when I told him he could make his own peanut butter sandwich. He made a triple-decker. (I got the idea he'd been wanting to try that for awhile.) Not even too big of a mess, and he got everything put away when he was done. He made a sandwich for #2 too.
Anyway, here's a pic of the finished product. I'm very pleased, I think it turned out great! And she loves it so much.
